Maureen Whelan Anouge, Esq.

Maureen was born in Princeton, NJ and raised in St. Petersburg Beach, FL. After graduating summa cum laude in 1987 from St. Petersburg Catholic High School, she attended Barry University in Miami, FL on a full academic scholarship. She pursued two majors: one in the School of Communication Arts, and the other in the School of Psychology. Maureen completed both majors in four years in the University’s Honors Program, and graduated magna cum laude. While at Barry, she was inducted into Alpha Chi, the National College Honor Society, and was elected into membership in Psi Chi, the National Honor Society for Psychology. Maureen interned in Broadcast Communications at WTVJ-TV in Miami, FL. She served as Co-Captain of the Barry University Varsity Cheerleaders and as Captain of the Barry University Danceline, performing at sporting events. In her senior year she was initiated into Phi Alpha Delta, the national legal fraternity. Maureen was honored as the 1991 Barry University Outstanding Graduate of the School of Communication Arts.

Upon graduation she accepted a position at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, FL in the department of Mental Health, in which she employed her psychology background. After much reflection, Maureen ultimately decided to apply her communications foundation towards a career in law. She chose Stetson University College of Law because of its excellent reputation as one of the nation’s preeminent law schools for trial advocacy.

While at Stetson, Maureen was certified by the Supreme Court of Florida as a legal intern to prosecute criminal cases for the State Attorney’s Office. In addition, she was selected from multiple applicants to represent Stetson as a law intern for the Spaceport Florida Authority in Cocoa Beach, FL, wherein she interfaced with NASA and US Air Force officials regarding aerospace contractual issues. Also while at Stetson she worked as a professor’s assistant in the area of Health Care Law. Maureen graduated with her Juris Doctor from Stetson in 1995, and was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1996.

Maureen began private practice with the prestigious law firm of Battaglia, Ross, Dicus and Wein, P.A. in St. Petersburg, FL. She practiced in the areas of corporations, business, and contracts law. While working as a corporate attorney Maureen gained extensive experience in the formation of business entities, and handled this work for all members of the firm.

In 2002 she relocated to Central Florida with Christian. Maureen and Chris met as first year law students at Stetson in 1992, and were married in 1995. Maureen formed the Anouge & Associates with Christian in 2003. They reside in Orlando with their four children.
